We’ve made a lot changes in our lives to become more healthy, and most of them I embrace and enjoy. I enjoy eating a high protein low carb diet most of the time. Occasionally, I miss dessert, you know like every night miss it, but I really love the fact that Andy and I are now taking a daily walk. Walking alone with only the dogs does get a little boring.
Though I do feel better drinking more hot tea than coffee, I do find myself missing my coffee. I used to drink coffee until about 2 in the afternoon, but I would drink it in fits and spirts. I’d have to refill my cup often when it would get half empty just to keep it warm, or I’d have to pour my coffee out because it would be stone cold. I’d get distracted doing something else and totally just forget about it. Oops!
There is really nothing worse than getting lost in work and picking up my cup of coffee, and taking a giant gulp of nasty cold coffee. Coffee tastes so good when it is nice and hot, but it turns quite bitter when it goes lukewarm. It really doesn’t take that much time to go from nice and hot to lukewarm. Inattention really gets the job done.
Inattention ruins a lot of things before you know it. It’s easy to get focused on the mundane things that need to be done every day, and you start to forget what is important in life. Before you know it, you look up and days have passed without getting anything actually accomplished. You’ve just gone from work to errands to falling asleep exhausted into your bed. Then you get up and do it all over again, a never ending cycle.
Remember to stop and take the time to count your blessings every day. The people that we walk through this life with are way more important than the things that we acquire along the way. Hug your loved ones, or call them if they live far away from you. Do not let yourself turn lukewarm and bitter. It takes effort to hold on to what is important, but it is worth it.
